Update for the opening of the Centre. WELCOME BACK!!
We are pleased to announce that the centre will reopen on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting 14th April 2021 with limited services. These include the gym, lounge and therapies.
ALL ATTENDANCES WILL BE STRICTLY BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
Initially, please private message our Facebook page or click the book appointment tab to book in and we will get back to you to confirm. Unfortunately we can only allow limited numbers into the lounge at anyone time. At the moment this will be 6 visitors at a time with a 2 hour allocated slot. There will be various restrictions within the centre. We ask that you only turn up at the time of your pre booked appointment and as the front door will be locked, please ring the bell for admittance.
Once inside you will need to sanitise your hands. You will find 5 automatic hand sanitisers in the building plus numerous small bottles of hand sanitiser placed in various places. Please, please make sure to use these. If you prefer to bring your own then that would be ok.
We will sign you into the centre (name, phone number, and time of arrival) this is as per official guidance. When you are ready to leave we ask that you inform a member of the committee so that we can record what time you left and you will be asked to leave via the fire exit. When in the building we ask that you all take responsibility to ensure social distancing. 2 members of the committee will be on hand to encourage this.
As per Wigan Council and Douglas Valley guidelines we have to ensure that social distancing is managed correctly. Use of the toilets is STRICTY ONE OUT AND ONE IN. No visitors will be allowed into the kitchen. There will be one designated person each day who will be the sole user of the kitchen and will be responsible for maintaining hygiene in that area.
Seating within the lounge will be set out to enable social distancing at all times. Please only use the seats that are in use. (You’ll see what we mean when you get to the centre, but please don’t take Teds seat). If you want to use the lounge area before or after your gym appointment then you will have to book 2 appointments, one for the gym and one for the lounge.
The wearing of face masks, at this moment, is optional.
If you have any queries or concerns then please contact us via our Facebook or a member of the committee
Cant wait to see you all back!
We are a charity based in the Marsh Green area of Wigan which provides a huge service for MS sufferers in our borough. Our centre helps with advice, therapies, information and lots more.
Over the last 18 months, our Therapy Centre has developed massively. We have set up the provision of a fully accessible gym and specialist therapy centre for the relief of pain and discomfort of MS sufferers. This all takes place in our community centre building in Marsh Green. We also aim for our gym to be accessible to local people with other Neurological conditions. e.g. Stroke Association. This has already started to happen.
We offer Aromatherapy, Reiki, Reflexology, Tibetan Head Massage and Chair Yoga. The centre also provides a sanctuary and hub for advice, socialisation and friendship which is a major help with coping with the disease.
We have over 100 members and are growing rapidly.
We are a totally independent charity run completely by volunteers and we contract in four professional therapists to work within our facilities
Shopping with us can help the MS Therapy Centre and save you money!
