Hi my name is Jane Bennett and I teach chair yoga classes on Tuesday afternoons at the centre. I am a qualified yoga teacher who specialises in teaching young to adults and children with disabilities and additional needs. I first discovered yoga while suffering with chronic illness (ME/CFS) and over the years have benefited so much that I have made it my mission to make yoga accessible for everyone.
I am a big fan of mindfulness and I incorporate it into all of my sessions. Each class includes gentle warm ups for the joints, gentle stretches, movement with the breath, moving the spine in all of its directions, brain training exercises and a guided relaxation. All of the movements can be adapted to everyone's individual needs. If you can sit in the chair, you can do chair yoga.
