Our Centre
The Wigan MS Therapy Centre
The Wigan MS Therapy Centre is a therapy centre for people with Multiple Sclerosis.
We are a totally independent charity based in the Marsh Green area of Wigan run completely by volunteers. We provide a huge service for MS sufferers in our borough. Our centre helps with advice, therapies, information and lots more.
Over the last 18 months, our Therapy Centre has developed massively. We have a new name - we were formerly called the MS Regional Support and Therapy Centre. We also have a totally new committee since 2016. We have changed!
Our Accessible Gym
We have set up the provision of a fully accessible gym and specialist therapy centre for the relief of pain and discomfort of MS sufferers. For this we contract in four professional therapists to work within our facilities. This all takes place in our community centre building in Marsh Green. We also aim for our gym to be accessible to local people with other Neurological conditions. e.g. Stroke Association. This has already started to happen.
We offer aromatherapy, reiki, reflexology, Hopi ear candles therapy, Tibetan head massage and chair yoga.
It is reported that there are over 100,000 sufferers in the UK. We have over 100 members and are growing rapidly.
Our main aim (and why we work so hard to keep going) is that the centre provides a sanctuary and hub for advice, socialisation and friendship which is a major help with coping with the disease.
Our Comfortable Lounge!
We have a wonderful lounge area for people to come and socialise with others and swap stories about their condition. We love to have a chat and a laugh with a brew and some toast! All our members find this such a friendly place to come to and everyone gains something from a visit.
If you know of someone affected by MS in any way, please come along and say hello. You will always be made welcome.
